Nachdem seit dem Jahre 1900 das koreanische Halbinselreich mit Eröffnung der 42 km langen Eisenbahn von der Hauptstadt des Landes Soul nach dem an der Westküste gelegenen Hafen Chemulpo in die Reihe der Eisenbahnländer eingetreten ist, beginnt der Eisenbahnbau auch im Lande der „Morgenruhe“ lebhaftere Fortschritte zu machen. […] Dieses Interesse der Japaner a Korea bethätigt sich jetzt besonders lebhaft bei dem in Kürze beginnenden Bau der Bahn von Soul nach dem an der Südostküste gelegenen Hafenorte Fusan.
- Construction of the Railway from Seoul to Busan in Korea. Since 1900, when the Korean Empire entered the ranks of railway nations with the opening of the 42-kilometre line from the capital, Seoul, to the west coast port of Chemulpo, railway construction in the “Land of Morning Calm” has been making increasingly lively progress. […] This Japanese interest in Korea is now particularly evident in the soon-to-begin construction of the railway from Seoul to the port city of Busan on the southeast coast.
