Inherited from Ottoman Turkish باش اوجی (baş ucu),[1][2] from باش (baş) and اوج (uc, uç),[3][4] equivalent to baş (“head”) +‎ uç (“point, end, tip”) +‎ -u (possessive suffix), literally “head end”.
