Usage notes
In Brazil, some consider the term racist, arguing it associates the color black with a negative connotation and advising not using it.[1][2][3] But others contest racist intent, saying the word's original definition (to blacken) evolved into the current meaning through an association with dark stains, not with skin color.[4][5]
