Etymology

Either a semi-learned borrowing from Old Anatolian Turkish توز (töz), or a learned borrowing from Old Turkic [script needed] (töz), both ultimately from Proto-Turkic *töŕ. Reintroduced to the language during 1940s as a replacement for cevher, a borrowing from Arabic.[1]
