Borrowed from Classical Persian خوشبو (xʷašbu). By surface analysis, خوش (xuš, “pleasant; sweet”) + بو (bū, “smell, scent”). First attested in c. 1564 as Middle Hindi خوشبو (xvśbv).[1]
