Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀲𑀤𑁆𑀥𑀸 (saddhā), from Sanskrit श्रद्धा (śraddhā, faith, trust), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *śraddʰáH, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *ćradᶻdʰáH, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱred-dʰh₁-éh₂, from *ḱr̥dés (heart). Doublet of श्रद्धा (śraddhā).
