2. to be hot, sultry, as the weather; to be scorched

   வெயிற்காலமாகையால் பகலெல்லாம் வேகின்றது.

   veyiṟkālamākaiyāl pakalellām vēkiṉṟatu.

   As it happens to be the summer season, the days are all scorching.

3. to be inflamed, as the stomach

   Synonym: அழலு (aḻalu)

4. to be boiled, cooked, as rice

   சோறு வேகவில்லை.

   cōṟu vēkavillai.

   The rice has not boiled (to perfection).

5. to be refined by burning in a crucible, as gold
6. to be distressed by grief or passion

   துயரச்செய்தி கேட்ட என் மனம் வேகின்றது.

   tuyaracceyti kēṭṭa eṉ maṉam vēkiṉṟatu.
