ชื่อสกุล

From ชื่อ (chʉ̂ʉ, “name”) +‎ สกุล (sà-gun, “family”); calque of English family name; probably first used on 22 March 2455 BE (1913 CE), when the Law on Designation of Family Names, 2456 Buddhist Era (พระราชบัญญัติขนานนามสกุล พระพุทธศักราช ๒๔๕๖) was promulgated.

     When the marriage comes to an end due to the death [of either party], the party that is still alive and uses the family name of the other party shall have the right to continue using such family name.

“ชื่อสกุล” is avoided to used since it is the homonym of “ชื่อ-สกุล” meaning the full name, both first name and last name.
