  The highest of the peaks rising prominentlyon the right is called Shout-and-Response Peak. Below is the retreat of Mao-chen the Venerated One—a place rarely visited by man. Sun Ssu-miao lived in seclusion on Mount Omei. When Mao Chen was here he often shouted and responded back and forth with Sun Ssu-miao from this spot, or so it is said.
