Characters in the same phonetic series (章) (Zhengzhang, 2003)
Phono-semantic compound (形聲 / 形声, OC *kjaŋ) and ideogrammic compound (會意 / 会意): phonetic 章 (OC *kjaŋ, “emblem”) + semantic 彡 (“colorful patterns”) – conspicuous.
Etymology
Apparently an alternative form originally of 章 (OC *kjaŋ, “composition”). Note also similarities to Burmese တင့် (tang., “comely”) (Luce, 1981), particularly if the Old Chinese reconstruction is the same as Baxter-Sagart's for 章 (zhāng).
