-ilho m (noun-forming suffix, plural -ilhos)

1. forms names of things that share some characteristic with the suffixed word, often carrying a diminutive or belittling aspect

   ‎caixa (“box”) + ‎-ilho → ‎caixilho (“window frame”)

   ‎trocado (“switched”) + ‎-ilho → ‎trocadilho (“pun”)
