From Proto-Oceanic *poki (“to return” – compare with Tongan foki and Samoan foʻi; plus Fijian voki “[of the wind] to blow in a different direction”, vuki “to change direction” and tavuki “to capsize [of a boat]”). [1] May also be related to poki “to overtake (of a boat), to cover with a upside down lid” and popoki “to turn something upside down” through said Proto-Oceanic root.
