  1. To want; to desire (used to form polite requests, suggestions etc.)
    Would you like some tea?... I asked if you’d like to have some tea.
    How would you like to go to the cinema?
    What about going for a run? ~I'd like to.
  2. Used to politely express a want or desire [with infinitive].
    I would like to congratulate you on your results.
    You wouldn't like to come along, by any chance?
    If you'd like to come this way, I'll show you the house.
