  1. to raise one's glass [with dative ‘to/towards someone’] as a greeting (possibly accompanied by a few friendly words, but also silently), typically followed by the other person raising their glass as well and each taking a draught
    Als ich ankam, hat er mir zugetrunken, aber dann saß er den ganzen Abend nur mit seinen Kumpels an der Theke.
    When I arrived he raised his glass towards me, but then he just sat with his mates at the bar for the rest of the night.
