    huwwe šaḵṣ ʕaṣabi ḥasab-ma basmaʕ.
    He's an irritable person, according to what I hear.
    الصوت واطي كتير، انا مش سامع.
    iṣ-ṣōt wāṭi ktīr, ana miš sāmeʕ.
    The volume is too low, I can't hear.
    (literally, “The volume is very low, I'm not hearing.”)

    انا بسمع لفيروز بالصبح.
    ana basmaʕ la-fayrūz biṣ-ṣubḥ.
    I listen to Fayrouz in the morning.
