From Apabhramsa उव्वकइ (uvvakaï),[1] from Prakrit 𑀉𑀯𑁆𑀯𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀇 (uvvakkaï), from the Sanskrit roots उद्वम् (udvam, to vomit, throw out) + कृ (kṛ, to do)[2] or from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀉𑀩𑁆𑀩𑀓𑁆𑀓 (*ubbakka, vomited).[3]
