Cognate with Northern Thai ᨧᩲ, Lao ໃຈ (chai), Lü ᦺᦈ (ṫsay), Tai Dam ꪻꪊ, Shan ၸႂ် (tsǎue), Tai Nüa ᥓᥬ (tsaue), Phake ꩡၞ် (caü), Ahom 𑜋𑜨𑜧 (chow), Zhuang caw.

Compare to Proto-Austronesian *qaCay.
