即事

1. (literary) to perform one's work; to be at one's duty; to take part in an activity

     Xuānzǐ cí yān, shǐ jíshì yú huì, chéng kǎitì yě. [Pinyin]

     Xuanzi (of Fan) apologised to him (Juzhi) and invited him to participate in the convention, so that his reputation as a "graceful and courteous lord" could be preserved.

     Bǎiguān gòngcái, bǎigōng jíshì, sīmǎ shì chéng xiū zúwǔ. [Pinyin]

     The officials share (a common collection of) resources; the artisans and workers perform (their respective) jobs; and the military officers inspect the fortification and train the troops.
