Possibly non-Sino-Vietnamese reading of Chinese 梭 (“shuttle”, SV: thoa); as the correspondence between early ‹-oi› vs. late ‹-oa› is also seen in ngói vs. ngoã, the former from Old Chinese 瓦 (OC *C.ŋʷˤra[j]ʔ), the latter from Middle Chinese 瓦 (MC ngwaeX).
