Etymology

Probably a diminutive form of an unknown root; *bur +‎ *-čak. However, compare *bür (bud, leaf) and its derivative *bürtük (grain) for a similar semantic and morphological parallel. (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
