Coblin (1986) compares this to Tibetan ཀླུ (klu, serpent, naga), yet see (OC *kreːw); most likely etymology is "twisting, wriggling" (Carr, 1990; Schuessler, 2007). Note (OC *kɯw, *krɯwʔ) "to twist, plait, wind, entwine".
