     Since Hàn Thuyên (born 1229), Vietnamese writings often use the national language.

• This word typically refers to China in most contexts, by virtue of most Chinese speakers being from China. Although the literal meaning is "my/our country", the specific country it refers to actually depends on the person using the term, so a Malaysian Chinese using this term would be referring to Malaysia for instance. 我國／我国 (wǒguó) should be used with care when the speaker and the audience do not necessarily share a national identity, or the speaker is not from a Chinese-speaking country, to avoid confusion.
